Vineyard
Dindima Wines was purchased by Lee and David Bell and their two sons, Luke and James in 2002. The 5 hectare vineyard, winery and cellar door was formerly Osmond Wines.

Since acquiring the site on the Cargo Road the family has devoted its energy to transforming the previous operation into one that offers a total wine experience for both wine lovers and those just discovering the joys of the grape. The emphasis at Dindima is on quality - in the vineyard, the winery and at the cellar door. The aim is to grow premium quality grapes, make elegant well structured cool climate wines and to present those wines to the public in an inviting, relaxed yet informed atmosphere. In order for visitors to experience a working winery safely, particularly during vintage the cellar door has been fitted with a viewing window.

A Scott Henry approach to canopy management was in place when the vineyard was first purchased. In an attempt to improve grape quality and in turn wine quality we have been systematically converting this system to Vertical Shoot Positioning. There is also still work to be done with re-trellising and on general vineyard infrastructure. Vines have been un-irrigated to achieve more intense flavours.

In October 2005 we bgan some new plantings to extend our range of white varieties. Some Chardonnay has already been planted with more to come later in the year. In 2006 will also be planting some Gewurtztraminer and Riesling. James is keen to take on the challenge of Pinot Noir from both a viticultural and wine making perspective, so we may put in a small parcel.
