Dindima (din-dee-ma) in the language of the Wiradjuri people means "group of stars". Our Dindima is the Southern Cross and its Pointers which can be seen on clear night suspended in the sky above our vineyard. Dindima's vines grow in rich volcanic soil at the base of Mount Canobolas, an extinct volcano at Orange NSW. Our grapes benefit from the cool slow-ripening climate of this region and produce elegant varietal wines. The Bell family invites you to share in the pleasures of Dindima, a boutique winery in the Orange region of NSW. At our cellar door we offer elegant cool climate wines made from small parcels of hand picked grapes that are matured in premium quality French and American oak. Dindima’s whites include Semillon and Chardonnay. Our reds include Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot blend and a unique fortified Muscat. This summer we released our 2005 Semillon and Chardonnay along with our 2004 Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot. Dindima's chief winemaker for our 2003 vintage was highly respected and multi-award winning local winemaker, Murray Smith, with James Bell assisting. From 2004 James has taken on the role of winemaker and is enthusiastically working towards his goal of producing premium quality cool climate wines. High quality stainless steel wine making equipment together with fine-grained French and American Oak barrels are used in the winemaking process. Dindima’s wines are made in a French style, displaying typical cool climate varietal characters and drink especially well when matched with food.
Cellar Door
At our cellar door it is our intention to provide visitors with a wine
experience that allows them to understand the whole process of wine making
from vineyard to table in a relaxed and welcoming setting. If you visit
on a weekend you may have the added bonus of being able to share your
love of wine with James Bell, our winemaker. Decadent treats such as Figs Dindima and Cherries Dindima are made using our Muscat and Shiraz wines. The figs make a simple yet superb dessert accompanied by a dollop of whipped cream or marscapone. They are also delicious served as a condiment with baked lamb. The cherries are great with pork and game. Other delights include:
